In an amazing technological advancement, I've just discovered that it is possble to post to my blog via text message. It baffles me why anyone would want to do this regularly (too much typing on a tiny, tiny keyboard), but I thought I'd try it out just this once. I do have this fancy new phone. And it lends some novelty to the month of blogging. Happy Friday, all!

Last fall I left my class after asking a student to send me an email reminding me of an appointment time. (I tend to forget stuff, so I made them responsible for reminding me.) By the time I got back to my office, across a courtyard, maybe 3 minutes, the email message had arrived, sent from some portable device or other. Kinda startled me. Keeping up with technology requires constant vigilance.
