It's Beginning to Look a Lot Like Christmas

Only two weeks to go, can you believe it? I have not yet done enough shopping, clearly, but I'll get to it - I am an expert last minute shopper - my dad taught me well. I was too busy this weekend anyway. On Saturday, Andy and I had our two sets of parents over for dinner. I forgot to actually take any pictures of people, but I did take some photos of the food (of course):

Steamed broccoli & cauliflower. A Lentil/potato/tomato/goat cheese salad. Also excellent.

Our lovely table. I bought the place-mats and napkins this last week to match my dishes. Note to readers: They can be acquired at Bed, Bath, and Beyond.

My parents got along well with Keith & Lois, I think. We laughed, we told good stories, we had some excellent wine and cocktails with our meal. And, in true French fashion, we ended it all with some seriously good cheese. Calvin was also a star - everyone loved him and he was remarkably well behaved. Only a little bit of attacking people's feet took place. I tried to get a photo of him for all of you just now, but he was much more interested in attacking my camera:
He was in the middle of cat-in-the-bag, after all. I should have known better.

As one of the parents at this dinner party, I can attest to the truth of this post. We all did get along really well and the cocktails, wine and food were all excellent! I thought Lois got along the best with Calvin, but he entertained us all. It was a lovely evening.
PS The placemats and napkins that perfectly matched your dishes were an added delight.

It looks and sounds like a lovely dinner party. Excellent menu. And Calvin's eyes look super green in that photo.
