Answers, Part Two

I now continue with the 2nd part of my answers to the "Ask Me Questions" meme. My mom requested:

"Ok, fun. I am seeking the answers to #3, 14, 17 and 24."

That seems straightforward enough. Here we go...

  • Question 3: let's say you have access to a time machine, but it can only go either backward or forward. one or the other. which do you choose and where do you go?

(Side note: the lack of capitalization in these questions is driving me CRAZY. I shall endeavor to persevere.)

Hmm, this is an intriguing one. As a giant fan of the various "Back to the Future" movies, as well Michael Crichton's novel Timeline, I have a lot of hypothetical/fictional scenarios to base this decision on. But when it comes down to it, I am way too accustomed to modern conveniences like electricity and flushing toilets (and, let's face it, the internet) to go into the past. Intriguing as the past may to the history major side of me, I enjoy modern hygiene. And wearing pants. Pants are good. So I guess I'd go far enough into the future that it's not possible I'll actually live that long to see it. So, 2100 or so, I guess. Do you think we'll have flying cars and jet packs by then? Back to the Future certainly thought so. :-)

  • Question 14: what was the first movie you remember seeing in the theater?

I love going to the movies almost as much as I love France, which is a lot. But, sadly, I do not have a super strong memory of my very first movie-going experience. I used to go to the (now non-existent) theater at Har Mar Mall ALL THE TIME, and yet... nothing sticks out as my first movie. Weird. So instead, maybe the first time I was completely blown away by a movie, to the point that I had to go back and see it in theaters multiple times? That would have to be Titanic, like much of the rest of my generation. I think I saw it three or four times in theaters, and then bought the VHS (right, not the DVD) at midnight the day it came out.

After that, Gladiator made a HUGE impression. I saw Gladiator twice in one day - once at an early afternoon matinee with a good friend and her family, and then later that night with my mom after convincing her that it was fantastic and we absolutely HAD to go again. We got out of the theater at some absurdly late time - our car was almost the only one left in the Har Mar parking lot. It was surreal and awesome all at the same time.

  • Question 17: if you could reboot or remake any movie, what would it be and who would you cast?

There are so many potential answers to this question! I think I have to take a two pronged approach. For the reboot, I would absolutely have to say the Ghostbusters franchise. I know, I know - there are all sorts of rumors that it's going to be rebooted... which makes my idea all the more possible! I LOVED Ghostbusters, and can you imagine how cool it would be to see it modernised? Just... fun. Bill Murray and co. can do almost no wrong in my book.

As for a remake, definitely the Buffy the Vampire Slayer movie, with the cast (and tone) of the TV series that I loved to pieces. The movie is horrible and campy and just... stupid. Changing it to the series cast and series mood would make it awesome. It's already written by Joss Whedon - just let him take the reins.

  • Question 24: do you ever rehearse or plan conversations before you actually have them?

Hmm... no, not really? I guess before a job interview, maybe. But isn't that sort of standard? Otherwise, I don't stress out enough about everyday conversations to plan and/or rehearse them in advance. I feel a little sad for people who feel they need to do that. Bummer.

Ok, I think I am done with answers! As before, feel free to go back to the original post and ask more/new questions. This has been fun!

And now, today's cat related content:

IMAG2084
Until a few days ago, that was unequivocally Calvin's Purrniture and Calvin's Purrniture ONLY. Lucy is now staking her claim. This is a big deal for in-house cat relations.

I agree, very fun. I want to save your answers and put them some place safe for the future. Or will Blogger do that?
I feel a little sorry for Calvin. Is he being usurped?
