NaBloPoMo 2012: Here we go again!

I have to tell you the truth - I am composing this, my first post of NaBloPoMo 2012, on October 31st. Shh, don't tell! I need something to occupy my evening as I sit and wait patiently for the trick-or-treaters to walk up to our brand new front door (more on that later).

So here we go again, as they say, with our month long, blog every single day adventure. There have been several times in October when I've had bloggable material but I've been saving it all up for this month. Needless to say, I have gotten entirely out of the habit, so this should be fun!

In what should come as a surprise to no one, I am going to re-christen my blog with cat photos. Because really, isn't that why the internet exists? Andy and I have this joke that cats have their own internet dedicated entirely to silly pictures and videos of us. If Calvin could operate a camera, I think we might be on to something.

So - Halloween! I was so, so excited to have trick-or-treaters at my very own house for the very first time. Plus we carved a pumpkin, inspired by our beloved feline:

Andy found and traced the pattern and I did most of the carving. We are so happy with it! A squirrel or some other vermin subsequently gnawed off the tail, but it still looked really nice on our front stoop. We have had a decent number of trick-or-treaters, all of them super adorable and polite. It was just as much fun as I was hoping. And now, the obligatory photo of Calvin, which I must always include:

He's excited about the blogging too. And doesn't the pumpkin look just like him? Those ears! And one more Calvin photo, just for good measure.

I love the pumpkin (and the orange door window is a nice touch). I am happy all 3 of you enjoyed your first Halloween in your new home. Much more fun than an apartment!
